The Tropical Rain Forest Information Center (TRFIC) pledged to disseminate the Landsat 2000 ETM+, 1990 TM, and 1970 MSS ortho-rectified datasets to African researchers and research programs at the Sixth AfricaGIS Conference held in Dakar, Senegal (November 4 - 7, 2003). Access to these data are via an ftp portal through a web browser at:

In addition to hosting the ortho-rectified dataset, TRFIC has developed a DVD series for Africa that includes bands 3, 4, and 5 of ortho-rectified data as well as an Interactive Atlas for the region. These are available by country and can be ordered by African researchers on DVD by sending an email with the following information to:
